Mechatronics (Master of Science)

Course Details

Objectives: The interdisciplinary Master of Science program Mechatronics deepens and expands the skills and knowledge about designing and producing integrated mechanical-electronic systems with automated and intelligent functions acquired in the Bachelor’s degree program. For this purpose, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Precision Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering and Informatics are combined in an interdisciplinary course of study. The program focuses on a particularly practical and research-oriented approach, which will be guaranteed by the Advanced Research Project, an internship, the internship module, and applied courses. The program can be adjusted to the students’ individual interests by choosing from the extensive mandatory subject area along the different fields. Alternatively, the students may select an area of specialization; the elective subject area can be adjusted to specific module combinations. For the final compilation of the personal examination and study plans, the mentor system will provide guidance and support.

An additional industrial internship (advanced internship) serves the qualification of students. Relevant practical activities in mechatronics may be taken into account completely or partially. If possible, the 12-week internship should be completed before the start of the program; it must, however, be completed no later than by the day of registering for the Master’s Thesis. During the program, it is possible to do the internship abroad as well as spend entire semesters in a foreign country.

Intended for: Students

Admission requirements: Requirements for admission to the Master’s degree program (and thereby university enrolment) are comprised of a “Bachelor of Science” degree in Mechatronics of the Technical University of Darmstadt or an equivalent degree. Admission to the Master’s Degree program may also depend on additional requirements.

Duration and terms: 4 semesters
