Course Details

Objectives: The SIGMA Clermont engineering program specializing in Mechanics aims to train engineers capable of designing, analyzing, sizing, and industrializing complex mechanical systems, while integrating constraints related to performance, reliability, safety, cost, and sustainable development.

Graduates acquire strong scientific and technological skills in mechanics, materials, and processes, complemented by transferable skills in management, innovation, and project management, enabling them to thrive in high-tech industrial environments.

Program Content
The program is organized over three years and is based on a balance between theoretical instruction, practical work, projects, and professional simulations.

• After a first year of common core curriculum focused on acquiring a solid scientific foundation in mechanics and engineering sciences (solid mechanics, dynamics, strength of materials, mathematics, computer science, and digital sciences), engineering students choose a specialization area related to their career goals.

• The program offers three areas of specialization:

o Machines, Robots, and Systems (MRS),
o Production and Logistics Systems (SPL),
o Structures and Materials (SMa)

Practical Training:
The practical training is based on a shared technological platform that includes testing, measurement, characterization, and design/manufacturing resources comparable to those used in industry (mechanical testing, vibration analysis, materials, machining, additive manufacturing, robotics).

The curriculum includes a minimum of 42 weeks of internships, spread over the three years, with opportunities for international mobility, gap years, and dual degrees.

Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)

Admission requirements: Preparatory classes (CPGE MP, PSI, PT, TSI, ATS), integrated preparatory classes (INP preparatory classes), admissions based on qualifications: BUT, BTS, scientific or technological degrees.

Targeted careers : Mechanical design engineer, calculation and simulation engineer, structures and materials engineer, industrial process engineer, production or industrialization engineer, industrial project manager.

Sectors: industrial mechanics, transportation, aerospace, automotive, energy, materials, industrial processes and systems.

Duration and terms: 3 years

Partnerships with national organisations: ARA Aeronautical Campus, Polyméca Network, Clermont Auvergne INP, academic and industrial networks
