Course Details

Objectives: IMT Atlantique's space course, Space Track, is a two-month training course dedicated to space engineering, design and management of space projects. It involves engineers and researchers from CNES, CEA, IMT Atlantique and IRISPACE partner companies and schools. It takes place over the months of April-May and allows you to validate 15 ECTS.
The Space Track draws on the activities and expertise of the University Space Center (CSU) of the Regional Institute of Space Innovation (IRISPACE), a platform supported by IMT Atlantique and which structures space in the Brittany region.

This training is a complete introduction to the needs of space engineering around:
UE A - SPACE INT gives an introduction to the space domain, its ecosystem and its economy. It allows us to understand the challenges and constraints of the space environment and to design a mission.
UE B - SPACE DAT covers the main space applications, namely Earth observation, navigation and telecommunications. It allows you to understand the methods and use real spatial data.
UE C - SPACE SYS is interested in the operation of the satellite, its subsystems, its design and its dimensioning. This EU makes it possible to grasp all the complexity of a space vehicle.
UE D – GROUND SEGMENT is a practical antenna design and manufacturing project for satellite data reception. Receive data from orbiting satellites with the system you designed yourself.
The CubeSat mission which is a transversal project in which you design a CubeSat mission in phase 0/A.

Duration and terms: 2 months: From April 2 to May 31, 2024
10 places
15 ECTS

Notes: The Space Track gives you an understanding of the issues and a practical vision of the different aspects of a mission thanks to experts from CNES, companies in the sector and laboratories within schools.
The course offers you dedicated time to work on your subject and make it easier to obtain an internship, even a short one (2-3 months). Take advantage of the network of IRISPACE members to identify and contact players in the sector. We had already registered the Brest Rennes and Nantes campuses of IMT Atlantique.
