Détails de la formation

Objectifs : The target of the course is to create experts in geomatic and/or in environmental sustainable development, at a high international standard.

The first specialization, which is completely unique for Italy, aims at creating experts in surveying, monitoring, representing the land shape and the processes taking place on it in terms of information systems.

Therefore the classical items of geodesy, like positioning, by land and satellite observations, gravity field surveying and monitoring, geoid determination etc. are conjugated with modern techniques of earth observations from space, like high resolution imaging, SAR, LiDAR and optical remote sensing observations.

The representation of the results by means of geographic information systems and the different analyses and diagnoses that can be derived from them are also taught with emphasis on advanced methods.

Alternatively, students may emphasize natural resources sustainability issues and develop the ability to formulate them in technical terms, exploit modern computational tools to evaluate their impacts and finally implement the best solutions using up-to-date technologies.

Environmental problems can indeed be tackled by closely coupling management and planning tools that, in a broader perspective, include both local and global arenas, and technical/implementation issues.

The course provides a qualified basis for analysis and resolution of environmental problems from technical, planning and managerial perspectives. Students will increase their understanding of the functioning of ecosystems, learn how to assess the local and global environmental impacts of human activities, and apply advanced methods, techniques and models to identify, describe, quantify and solve environmental problems, with a specific attention to water resources systems.
