Master 2 Parcours Satellite Remote Sensing for Earth & Climate Observation (SECO)

Course Details

Objectives: The Master 2 program in "Satellite Remote Sensing for Earth & Climate Observation" trains specialists in remote sensing and satellite observations. Today, these disciplines play a central role in numerous scientific, economic, and societal sectors through their applications in the field of Earth observation: climate, mapping of terrestrial resources, agriculture, urban planning, natural hazard management, pollution monitoring, meteorology, environmental physics, extreme events, innovative instrumentation, and more. They are also widely used in the field of space science for the exploration of the solar system. The vast amount of data provided by satellites today, combined with the rise of artificial intelligence, is paving the way for new scientific advances and applications.

The program covers the entire chain from the creation of remote sensing data to its exploitation: orbitography, wave propagation, radiative transfer, image processing, physical modeling and applications, instrumentation, and data science. It is based on knowledge of physics and engineering sciences. It is taught in French or English depending on the audience.

Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)

Admission requirements: In M1: registration is possible in the SOAC or Physics and Applications specialization (slightly more in-depth physical content, for the "remote sensing" track in M2 in particular).

Targeted careers : This master's program aims to train experts capable of mastering these technologies and meeting the scientific and societal challenges related to Earth and climate observation.

Notes: This course is offered within the Physics and Applications major at Paris Cité University

Partnerships with national organisations: Académie Spatiale d'Île-de-France
