Course Details

Objectives: The BTS Treatment of Materials (metals and alloys provides training in all techniques allowing the improvement of the chemical, physical or mechanical properties of manufactured products.
Two options are available:
(The first year is common to both options, the specialty is chosen in the second year).
The Thermal Treatments option allows you to study the operations of structural transformation of materials. The action of thermal cycles, implemented in furnaces with particular atmospheres or under vacuum (quenching, case hardening, annealing, etc.), makes it possible to optimize the mechanical or physical properties of products: resistance to breaking, to traction, to deformation, impact and wear, elasticity, ...
The Surface Treatments option covers all operations aimed at modifying the surface characteristics of materials. The techniques used (laying of coatings (zinc, chromium, gold, etc.) conversion treatments (anodization) and mechanical treatments (polishing) confer specific properties on the products such as resistance to corrosion, hardness or l 'improvement of their appearance.

Degree Level (EU) : 5 - (EQC level or equivalent)
