Master Matériaux : Élaboration, Caractérisation et Traitements de Surface MECTS

Course Details

Objectives: The specialty offers 3 orientations:

functionality;
durability;
materials in their conditions of use (route in Romania).
This type course Materials, elaboration, characterization and surface treatments (MECTS), co-accredited by the engineering schools (Toulouse INP-ENSIACET, ENIT) and by the UPS aims to prepare graduates to do a doctoral thesis or to work in industry.

During the M2, students acquire or deepen the knowledge necessary for the development (synthesis, implementation and shaping) of the different classes of materials, nanomaterials or multimaterials, structural or functional, their structural and microstructural characterization and the control of microstructures, the measurement and control of their mechanical and physical properties on the one hand during the manufacturing stages but also during the life of the parts and systems manufactured (durability of systems and structures, evolution of properties of use).

The aim is to train graduates capable of adapting to different multidisciplinary orientations in the field of materials by avoiding specializing them too strongly to avoid closing them access to the many sectors of activity concerned.

UE9 INP-ENSIACET of your choice
Thin films and polymer engineering (functionality path) or
Properties and use of advanced materials (sustainability course)

UE9 INP- ENIT
Mechanical and Physical Compatibility of Surfaces and Interfaces

Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)

Acquired skills during the training : Some points are more or less in-depth depending on the course chosen by the student:

develop new materials: metals and alloys, ceramics, polymers, composites (CMO, CMM, CMC) or nanocomposites,
to develop new methods of elaboration of materials or to improve existing methods, - To improve the properties of use of existing materials by a close control of their microstructure,
know how to modify the production method or parameters to achieve this,
study the in-service behavior of materials (fatigue, durability, corrosion, abrasion, etc.),
master the techniques of analysis of materials, their structural and microstructural study, measurement of their mechanical and functional properties.
