Course Details

Objectives: The master's degree in computer science, Cyber-Physical and Social Systems: Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things (CPS2: AI and IoT) course is an international course of the master's degree in computer science at the University of Lyon, operated jointly by the Jean Monnet University of Saint- Étienne and Mines Saint-Étienne – Institut Mines Télécom.

The objective of this course is to provide students with triple expertise on technologies and methods to design and integrate intelligent cyber-physical systems, interfacing the physical, social and digital dimensions of our environments:

Technological, by mastering the design and implementation of information systems and applications integrating physical (communication, perception, action, etc.) and social (private life, trust, community, etc.) characteristics.
Functional, by understanding the issues and challenges of digital systems by combining the different dimensions of new complex environments.
Scientific, through the mastery of the models necessary for the formalization of all the interactions between the dimensions of a cyberphysical system.

The topics taught in CPS2 are related to the Internet of Things, web and mobile applications, artificial intelligence, Cloud and Edge infrastructures, digital twins, cybersecurity, scientific writing. Application areas include industry 4.0, smart cities, smart buildings and intelligent transportation systems.

Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)

Targeted careers : The CPS2 program opens career opportunities in the research and development of innovative and technical cyberphysical systems: research and development scientists, IT managers, architects of cyberphysical systems, support engineers in the design and development of cyberphysical systems, experts in socio-technical systems, functional experts or consultants, project managers in applications such as health, transport, energy and environment.
